酒店英语听说教程 | Lesson 13-礼宾部-跑腿服务 Running Errands for Guests

Part 1 Conversation 

Listen to the conversation with the following Questions.

1. How will the guest go to the zoo?

2. How is the traffic in the morning?

(B: Bellman G: Guest)B: Bell service. May I come in?G: Yes, come in, please

B: Good morning, ma’am. Did you just call and ask for a map of Beijing?

G: Yes. My son wants to see giant pandas somewhere, do you have any recommendations?

B: My pleasure. Let’s look at the map on the iPad. With Beijing Zoo as your destination, you can either take a taxi or subway Line Four. Here are the details of the two suggested routes.

G: Well, it looks like that the subway station is too far away from our hotel. I’d prefer a taxi.

Will there be taxis available at around nine?

B: Don’t worry We can book a taxi for you.

G: That is really convenient. How long does it take to get there?

B: It usually takes about 30 minutes. But the traffic is normally heavy in the morning and may take 40 minutes longer.

G: Then there is no big difference with subway, I don’t want to waste such a long time on road.

B: Let me have a look. It looks like the traffic jam usually happens around Xizhimen. The best way is to take taxi to the nearest subway station at Xuanwumen, and then take subway Line

Four to Beijing Zoo Station, it only takes about 35 minutes.

G: That sounds great.

B: Let me confirm your booking, a taxi for you to Xuanwumen at nine tomorrow morning.

G: That’s correct, thanks!

B: I am always at your service. Is there anything else I can do?

G: Can I have a copy of today’s China Daily?

B: No problem. I will be back in a few minutes.

 

(B:行李员    G:客人)B: 礼宾服务。我可以进来吗?G:是的,请进。

B:早上好,女士。你刚才打电话来要一张北京地图吗?

G:是的。我儿子想去什么地方看大熊猫,你有什么建议吗?

B:乐意为您服务。让我们看看iPad上的地图。以北京动物园为目的地,你可以乘出租车或地铁四号线。这是建议的两条路线的详细信息。

G:嗯,看来地铁站离我们酒店太远了。我想要辆出租车,九点左右有出租车吗?

B:别担心,我们可以为您预订一辆出租车。

G:那真的很方便。到那里要多长时间?

B:通常需要30分钟左右。但早上的交通通常很拥挤,可能要花40分钟。

G:那和地铁没什么区别,我不想在路上浪费这么长时间。

B:让我看看。看起来交通堵塞通常发生在西直门附近。最好的办法是打车到最近的宣武门地铁站,然后坐4号地铁到北京动物园站,只需要大约35分钟。

A bellboy is a hotel employee who escorts (护送) guests and their luggage to their rooms. Another word used for this employee is bellhop/concierge. The word bellhop” is used because bellboys are often summoned (召唤) by a bell traditionally In addition to taking the guests to their rooms, the bellboy also shows them where to locate light switches (开关) and other equipment (设备). He also shows the guests how to operate the air-conditioner(空调) television set, and other appliances(设备) in the room. Bellboys are expected to run errands for the guests, and they should be able to answer questions about other services offered by the hotel, such as dry cleaning, restaurants, and room service hours. “Chief Concierge” to be responsible for the management of concierge department.

​行李员是一名酒店员工,负责护送客人和他们的行李到他们的房间。也可以用另一个词:礼宾员。之所以使用“bellhop”一词,是因为传统上,行李员通常由钟声召唤,除了把客人带到他们的房间外,行李员还告诉他们电灯开关和其他设备的位置。他还向客人演示如何操作房间里的空调、电视机和其他电器、为客人跑腿,他们还应能够回答有关酒店提供的其他服务的问题,如干洗、餐厅和客房服务时间。现代国际品牌酒店的会设置“首席礼宾司”来负责礼宾部的管理。
