酒店是以住宿为中心来展开各项服务的，客人入住以后，客房的清洁、送餐、维修等杂项都由客房部门来完成。除了基本的服务外，客人如有其他要求，客房服务员也要尽量满足，让客人觉得宾至如归。

由于酒店太大、设施较多，为了避免顺客找错房间，产生不好的误会，或是我时间。多数酒店都会提供带客进房的服务。带客进房是接待人员的工作，有的店也让服务员负责，其主要职责就是将顾客带至房间并为他们安排好行李。
